His care is with us...turn on TRUST and see

Having fear and trust issues isn’t fun.  Having power issues is self-induced bondage.  Feeling responsible for everyone’s well being can be taxing.  Living life as if everything depends on one person, YOU, can make us all feel frustrated, burdened, and resentful. Ever feel like that you’re the parent of everybody?  Then who’s taking care of you? It can be like holding onto a tiger’s tail for dear life.  Not knowing how to let go of its tail or when you’ll be eaten by it can make life pretty miserable.

Once when operating a pipeline painting company I could see that the cash reserves were dwindling. The big job that we were on wasn’t going to be accomplished before I ran out of money.  No money meant no supplies, no payroll, no room and board for the guys on the road. I was sweating the possibilities of real trouble. It was at that time I began my course in Trust.  Through studying the Holy Bible and the Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, my church books, I was learning more and more about God and trust. A God that we can trust no matter what the challenge or circumstance seemed to be.  I started getting a clearer picture of how God is our Parent, a divine perfect Father-Mother, God.  A Parent we can trust, love, and turn to no matter when or for what. By learning to trust in God as our divine Care Giver, as our perfect Parent, I was gaining a little more each day why I should trust in God and not myself.

The outward appearances were frightening.  I had employees and their families depending on ME.  I could not have people work as hard as our guys did and then not pay them. Every time I became afraid or burdened by the heavy responsibility I turned to God in earnest prayer. When the fear of this future lack would fill my thoughts I would turn to God and say, “Father, I cannot wait to see what You have planned.”  I did this often for weeks.  Finally on a payroll day, without the funds, I was in the shower.  Once again the fear bubbled up. The deadline was there, the money wasn’t, and still no answer to how I was going to pay my bills and the employees.  But I stood firm in my prayer that God was taking care of all things and all of us. I stated out loud right there in the shower, “Father, I cannot wait to see HOW YOU are going to do this.”  And I meant it!

After my shower and getting ready for the day, praying every step of the way, I went to the mail box.  Looking at the many pieces of mail I came across an envelope from my insurance company. It looked like there was a check inside. I couldn’t understand why there would be a check from them.  Usually they were one of my biggest bills.  Opening it up out in the drive, I couldn’t believe my eyes.  There was a check for a very a large amount.  Included with the check was a letter explaining that it had come to their attention that they had over charged me the year before.  The amount of the check covered not only payroll for that pay period but all the other bills till we were finished with the job and received payment for it.

How did it come to their attention?  Why would they send me a check?  Usually they just took it off the bill for the next year.  God! His All-knowing, all-expressing, tender care; God does know all and does all, always. God does take care of everything.  God is in all of the details, big and small.  By knowing this and turning to this we all can see His constant care.  

Mary Baker Eddy, the discoverer and founder of Christian Science, states, “Step by step will those who trust Him find that ‘God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.’”¹

Through prayer and listening I had taken each of those fears that had hit me, sometimes hard, and removed them with the simple statement to God that I couldn’t wait to see His answer.  It wasn’t a desperate plea to an unknown God.  It was a prayer stating a fact through renewed knowledge and trust in God as Love.  A statement of fact that He was right there loving us all.

The KEY to this challenge and may others after it was the realization that I am not, we are not, responsible for this person or that problem.  We are not, God is.  It is God’s universe, God’s people, God’s plan, God’s Life.  We’re His beloved children.  Children do not have to come up with the answers.  Children trust, love, learn, watch, and receive.

 “When as little children, we are receptive, become willing to accept the divine Principle and rule of being, as unfolded in divine Science, the interpretation therein will be found to be the Comforter that leadeth into all truth.”²

The words, “the divine Principle and rule of being” reveals a divine Principle and rule that we can always turn to and be healed by.  The Principle that God is All-in-all and the rule that His care is constant lifts us above the scary and burdensome.  We can “become willing to accept” this divine Principle and rule and be free to see the Comforter in action leading us “into all truth”.

His Love is eternal and infinite. His answers are perfect and timely.  His ability is complete and unfailing. God never leaves us, never stops leading us, never stops tending to us.  We are His children…why would any parent, especially the Perfect and Divine Parent ever leave a child untended to, uncared for, left alone?  They wouldn’t and He doesn’t.  We must remember He is always with us and He always is taking care of us.  We have nothing to fear only to enjoy.

“Fear thou not, for I am with thee; be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness…For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.”³

Let us turn to Him today and feel His loving presence and constant care.

Success...a numbers game?

What is success?  Is it how many friends we have?  Is it how much money we earn or how much is left after we pay the bills? Is it based upon the number of clients, the number of cars we own, the square footage of our home, the number of homes? Or is success a deeper measuring tool of peace, well-being, joy, happiness?

The word 'success' is used in The Holy Bible, the King James Version, only once.  It states, "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success."1

"This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth..." When do we see someone pulling out their Holy Bible for direction, office protocol, rules, laws?  Could this explain the office politics, the disgruntled employees, the undercurrents of animosity, anger, blood thirsty competition? What about the devastating moments in the economy and over a million people out of a job?  "...but thou shalt meditate therein day and night..." Why have so many put aside their Holy Bible, turned away from its recipe for success, its direction for all on how to live life successfully?

To most, if they lost everything, job, house, savings, wouldn't they also lose their sense of "success"? Why?  Because success is based upon things and titles but not on "...do according to all that is written therein:..." People base success upon status quo, peer pressure, 'keeping up with the Jones' mentality.  They base success upon the numbers.  They get lost in the competition for these numbers, losing sight that there is no real competition for Good.  God is Good and God gives to us all His ever-present Good. If we remembered this and lived this understanding that there is no competition to God's Good, then the words "...thou shalt make thy way prosperous..." would become evident in our lives.

When we start to turn to The Holy Bible and its directives "...then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success." We will see that 'good success' is a natural effect of turning our lives back over to the God who created all life.

We need to base Success upon spiritual lessons learned, prosperous spiritual gain in understanding, a feeling of self-worth that comes from the knowledge that we are God's children, 'heirs of God, and joint-heirs with the Christ'2.  If we base success on what we already permanently have as the children of God, our success couldn't be taken away or lost by outward circumstances or events.  This view of success, through the eyes of spirituality, reveals to us that success is permanent, changeless. It cannot be altered, lost, or taken away by any type of force.  No burning building and all of its belongings; no job loss, demotion, denied promotion; no pay cut, loss of savings, or bankruptcy; nothing could alter our sense of success, not even divorce can take our success away when we place it in God and God's laws.

"Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest."3

Let us turn our view of success from the mortal and temporal to the spiritual, permanent, and significant.  Then we will be placing success on firm ground and our sense of peace of mind in a place of safety.

Honor is honorable!

The word, ‘Honor’ isn’t used much anymore.  In looking up the word “Honor” a few words standout such as, “Recognition: Privilege: Credit: Integrity.”

The reason for this blog was something I saw today that made me so sad it hurt.  It reminded me of Christ Jesus’ statement, "But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven,” from the book of Matthew, Chapter 10 verse 33, in the King James version of the Bible. 

It has to be honorable and important to us to give ‘credit’ where credit is due.  It is actually our debt to pay, the recognition of where we found something that we found important enough to quote and share.  It is our ‘privilege’, a form of ‘integrity’, when we give the ‘recognition’ to the rightful ownership of words and deeds. 

On Facebook we are finding plagiarisms, people taking quotes of others and making them their own, all too frequently, it is sad.  Where did our honor go?  Is ego so running rampant that we have to take what is not ours, denying that others also have good to share and to give them the credit, honor, and recognition due?

What about quotes from other’s books, taking them and hiding the place that they were found?  Where is the honor in not sharing with the world the good that can be found in the books or groups that so deserve recognition?

Let us stop this ugly trait of denial.  Let us regain our honorable selves.  Let us squelch denial, fear and ego and give to all their just recognition.  By recognizing where we found the good we help others to find it as well.  Let us not hide the good but honor it and share it with the world in the right way!

Supply is ever present when we know it is from God

Good Day!

I will be posting almost daily supportive thoughts.  Todays thoughts are on Supply, God's style:

In studying John 6:1-14 Jesus fed the multitudes with five loaves of barley bread and 2 small fish. When everyone was filled they went around picking up the leftover fragments.  It was 12 baskets full that remained over and above the food that had been eaten! 

How?  Gratitude, understanding, acceptance, knowledge, that there is nothing impossible to God and that God fulfils all need.

In Matthew Henry Bible Commentary it states, “All of our comforts come to us originally from the hand of Christ; whoever brings them, it is he [God] that sends them.”

When we study the Holy Bible, we find divine rules like the rule Mary Baker Eddy presented and Jesus demonstrated.  These rules, applied to our daily needs, manifests supply in all ways, health, wealth, guidance, direction.  By demonstrating these rules we become accepting that these rules are for everyone to experience and enjoy.  Gratitude for what we already have makes us ready to receive more.  But what we receive are spiritual ideas because God is Spirit.  These spiritual ideas, then in turn bring us all that we need, in the here and now.

Jesus showed time after time small demonstrations to magnitudes larger than what we sometimes can imagine daily needed supply. When he did it, he gave thanks to God before the demonstration. He also not only hoped but expected the perfect answer to supply whatever was needed.

At times it seems very hard to be grateful in the middle of fear, concern, what seems to be large lack.  But Jesus revealed to us that he/we are never in actual lack because God is right here with us, evidencing His proof of constant care.  This is a spiritual idea, because God is Spirit, spiritual.  What we have to do is look up to Him, give thanks, acknowledge His abilities and understand that it is a Divine Rule for all to demonstrate and that we can. 

One of the best ways to do this is to stop thinking we have to be God, that it is personally up to us to come up with some kind of supply be it money, food, adequate shelter, clothing, job, etc.  God is God and He knows what we need.  He shows us what He has prepared for us.  He gives to us all that we need every moment.  What we NEED to do is to turn to Him and get out of the way.  All of the struggles that we put ourselves through is because we lack the knowledge that God is already doing everything.

When we look to God, accept His perfect care, are grateful, ready, and understand the truth that God is doing all and caring for all, we can see the demonstration as quickly as Jesus did in seeing the multitudes being fed.  We must look to God without outlining the HOW, WHEN, WHERE it will be done and by whom humanly it will be brought to us and when.  This closes the infinite multitudinous avenues that God, Spirit, has at His disposal.  We must open our thought to the vast array of ways God has and just be grateful and ready and patient.

Need something?  Go to God. For it is said, “seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matt 6:33)  Seek God and His ways.  Be grateful that He is doing all for you and everyone.  Love this knowledge and understand that all comes from God.  Watch how HE DOES it and rejoice.  Share this knowledge with others.  Return to the place of gratitude that brings peace and watch how this Divine Rule may be demonstrated in your own life.

God is here.  He is giving to all.  He does have all that we need.  We can see this evidenced in our lives.
